Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Novu ("the Bot", "we", "us") collects, uses, and stores information when you use the Novu Discord bot in your server.

1. Data We Collect

Novu collects and stores only the minimum data required to provide its service. This includes:

Guild ID — to associate your server's configuration with the bot
Channel IDs — the designated "Create VC" channel and category configured per server
User ID — to track ownership of temporary voice channels
Temporary channel records — channel ID, owner ID, guild ID, and creation timestamp, stored only for the duration the channel is active
Premium status — a flag indicating whether your server has an active premium subscription
Audit log channel — the Discord channel ID you designate to receive audit log events, if configured
Channel defaults — your preferred channel name template, user limit, and lock state for new temporary voice channels, if configured
Anonymouse usage statistics — data such as server identifiers, feature usage statistics, command usage, and timestamps to improve the service, monitor performance, diagnose issues, and inform future feature development. This data is not used for advertising or sold to third parties

We do not collect message content, usernames, profile pictures, or any personally identifiable information beyond Discord-issued IDs.

2. How We Use Your Data

All data collected is used solely to operate the bot's core functionality:

Creating and managing temporary voice channels on your server
Enforcing channel ownership (who can rename, lock, or delete a channel)
Restoring server configuration after bot restarts

We do not use your data for advertising, analytics, or any purpose beyond operating the bot.

3. Data Retention

Temporary channel records are deleted automatically when the channel is removed
Server configuration (guild ID, channel IDs, category ID, premium status, audit log channel, and channel defaults) is retained until you run /reset or remove the bot from your server

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your data with any third parties. Data is stored securely in a managed cloud database (Supabase) and is not accessible to anyone outside of the bot's operation.

5. Data Deletion

Server administrators can delete all stored data for their server at any time by removing Novu from their server, or by contacting us directly via our support server. All associated records will be permanently deleted within 7 days.

6. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect stored data, including encrypted database connections and restricted access credentials. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

Novu is intended for use on Discord, which requires users to be at least 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted to this page with an updated date. Continued use of the bot after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
